Overview
LibriVox Mobile is an unofficial Android app for finding and listening to public-domain audiobooks recorded by LibriVox volunteers.
The app does not require an account. It does not include ads, subscriptions, paid listening features, developer-run analytics, Crashlytics, Firebase, Sentry, or similar reporting SDKs in this build.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not ask you to create an account.
- We do not collect your name, email address, payment information, or contacts.
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use advertising identifiers for ads or tracking.
Data Stored On Your Device
The app stores library items, playback progress, bookmarks, likes, app settings, search cache, cover art, and downloaded audio on your device.
If Android backup or device transfer is enabled on your device, Android may include some app settings or local app data in that backup. You can manage backup behavior in Android system settings.
Network Use
The app contacts LibriVox and linked public audiobook hosting endpoints to search the catalog, stream audio, download audio, and load cover art. Those services receive normal network request information, such as your IP address and the requested file.
If you cast audio, the app may use Google Cast services and your local network to find and play audio on a nearby receiver.
Source links and donation links open in your browser and are handled by the website you choose to visit.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: used for search, streaming, downloads, cover art, and online/offline behavior.
- Foreground service/media playback: used for audiobook playback while the app is in the background.
- Notifications: used for Android media controls when you allow notifications.
- Local network: used when you cast audio to supported devices.
Website Privacy
This website is static. It does not include analytics scripts, ad scripts, or cookies from LibriVox Mobile. The website host may process standard server logs.
Delete Your Data
Because the app does not use accounts, there is no server account to delete. You can remove local data by deleting downloads in the app, clearing app storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app changes. The updated date at the top of this page will change when that happens.
